about
In Don’t Oppress Me the vocals take the role as a stubborn spoilt brat, comically singing about always being right and no one understanding her brilliance. Wonky brass arrangements and off-beat rhythms lets our minds drift to a Balkan barn party where the song culminates in a drunken saxophone battle and the singer is finally pushed over the edge of madness.
lyrics
I won’t get out of bed
I won’t do what you said
Your thoughts they hurt my head
I won’t, I can’t, just don’t
My father, my mother, my sister and my brother
They pain me, they strain me, they always try to change me
I will not ever change, I will not ever change
See the power in my mind
The time will come when you see why
You can’t see the genius in me
You don’t know, what it’s like to be me
Don’t raise your voice to me
I won’t, I can’t, just don’t
You’re oppressing, obsessing you’re damaging my aura
I’m hating debating, this world is so frustrating
A nation full of fools, a nations full of fools
See the power in my mind
The time will come when you see why
I’m resilient, I’m brilliant, I’m handsome and I’m pretty
I’m better, I’m faster I am the only master
Perfection at its best, Pick me I am the best
